BSDataFlow — Terms of Service

Effective date: September 1, 2026

1. What BSDataFlow Is

BSDataFlow is a web application for managing the flow of data related to bonsai shows, from display submission through curation, show setup, official judging, and people's choice voting. Exhibitors submit information about proposed displays; show organizers curate submissions and plan setup; designated judges score exhibited displays during the judging window; and show attendees may view display information and cast a single people's choice vote. The service is operated by the Pacific Bonsai Expo ("we," "us").

By using BSDataFlow, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the service.

2. Who May Use It

Display submission is open to exhibitors participating in a show that uses the service. Scoring is limited to individuals who have been issued a personal scoring link for the show. Public voting and display pages are open to show attendees. The service is not directed at children under 13.

3. Acceptable Use

You agree that you will not:

  • Share, transfer, or publish a personal scoring link issued to you or anyone else.

  • Score or vote on behalf of another person, or attempt to score displays you are not authorized to score.

  • Cast or attempt to cast more than one best-of-show vote, or use automated means (scripts, bots) to interact with the service.

  • Probe, interfere with, overload, or attempt to gain unauthorized access to the service or its data.

We may invalidate scores or votes that we reasonably believe violate these terms, and may revoke access to the service.

4. Display Submissions

When you submit display information (including descriptions, species information, and images), you represent that the information is accurate and that you have the right to submit it. You grant us a non-exclusive license to use, reproduce, and display submitted content for purposes of operating the show and the service, including display pages, judging materials, printed show materials, and published results. You retain ownership of your content.

Show organizers have sole discretion over curation: which displays are accepted, how they are described, and where and how they are exhibited. Submission does not guarantee acceptance.

5. Scores and Votes

Scores and votes you submit become part of the show's records. You may revise your own scores during the judging window and change your people's choice vote during the voting window; after the applicable window closes, submissions are final. Show results, including aggregated scores and vote tallies, may be published and shared with participants and the public.

6. Availability

The service is operated on a small self-hosted system. It is provided "as is" and "as available." We do not guarantee that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or available at any particular time, and we may suspend or discontinue it at any point.

7. Intellectual Property

The BSDataFlow software and site content are the property of Alexander Mishra Hoffman or used with permission. Display descriptions and images remain the property of the respective exhibitors, subject to the license in Section 4. Nothing in these terms grants you rights to reproduce site content beyond ordinary personal use of the service.

8. Disclaimer of Warranties and Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, the service is provided without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of, or inability to use, the service. Our total liability for any claim arising from the service will not exceed $10.

9. Privacy

Our handling of the limited data the service collects is described in the Privacy Policy.

10. Changes to These Terms

We may update these terms from time to time. The current version will be posted at this page with its effective date. Continued use of the service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.

11. Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Connecticut, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.
